Andrew McPherson was formally sworn in as Chief of Police for ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø at the university’s Board of Trustees meeting, August 24. He spent the previous six years as Chief of Police at Grayson College, a community college in North Texas, after also serving on the force as an officer.
"The essence of law enforcement in higher education is community service policing. I will be reaching out to the various groups on campus and the diversity programs. I will be an ally to our students," McPherson said. He has experience working with Clery requirements and Title IX investigations.
"It will be a nice change to be at a university with more on-campus residents. I am big on education. Student success is our goal, just like the goal of the university," McPherson said. "We have a lot in the works for National Campus Safety month in September. I’m looking forward to the great things we can do here."
