Kara Gaffney Pettit was appointed ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State Director of Admissions to oversee undergraduate recruitment and admissions marketing. Pettit was previously the associate director of admissions at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi where she also served as an admissions counselor. Pettit earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in humanities from Bob Jones University.
Additionally, the admissions team added Jarad Sanchez, Shania Maestas and Maddie Stouder.
Sanchez served as interim admissions counselor since December before moving into a full-time role last month. Sanchez earned a bachelor’s degree in English/mass communication from ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State in 2018. He is responsible for student recruitment in areas in Colorado and the western states.
Maestas earned both a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA from ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State, in 2019 and 2022, respectively. She most recently served as an adviser and recruiter for the ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State RISE program, a collaboration between ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State and the 14 high schools in the San Luis Valley. Maestas will recruit prospective students from the Valley.
Stouder most recently served as a middle school and high school English teacher in the South Conejos School District. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary English and English Liberal Arts with a minor in Spanish from ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State in 2021. Stouder will focus on student recruitment in the greater Denver area.
