ASU Day at the Capitol

Nearly 100 people attended a reception for state legislators hosted by ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø at the Warwick Denver Hotel, February 18. In addition to legislators, ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State alumni, faculty, and staff participated to share their "great stories" of ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State.

The following morning, February 19, several ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State academic departments and student groups showcased their offerings and activities with displays in the capitol. Among the groups were the AS&F student government and the Veterans at ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State Club. Later that day, President McClure was introduced to the Colorado General Assembly and received a standing ovation.

"By sharing their experiences of ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State, our alumni can help lawmakers understand the importance of ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø to Colorado and to our students," said ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State President Beverlee J. McClure. "This year’s General Assembly is important to us in many ways. As the budget is being debated, we stand to lose about $300,000 from our allocation or gain as much as $1.1 million. It is essential our legislators become aware of the implications of their budget decisions."

The reception was generously sponsored by Arnold & Marguerite Salazar, Partnership Investments, and SLV Behavioral Health.
