³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø recently became a member of the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), joining 16 other Colorado colleges and universities in AAC&U membership. As a member institution, ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State will take advantage of publication discounts, member registration rates for meetings and institutes, and individual enrollment in the AAC&U Associates Program.
The key areas that will help to inform ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State on how to improve student learning include assessment, general education, diversity, civic engagement, global interdependence, integrative learning, institutional change, and faculty development.
Founded in 1915, AAC&U’s membership is comprised of 1,300 institutions of higher education dedicated to ensuring that the advantages of a liberal education are available to all students regardless of background, enrollment path, academic specialization, or intended career. AAC&U’s mission is to make liberal education and inclusive excellence the foundation for institutional purpose and educational practice in higher education.
³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State also joined the LEAP Campus Action Network (CAN) which includes 340 colleges and universities committed to advancing a vision for higher education centered on essential learning outcomes for all students which are achieved through high-impact practices, grounded in the principles of inclusive excellence, and bolstered by authentic assessment of student learning.
The AAC&U representatives from ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State are Dr. "Beez" Lea Ann Schell, lead representative and Human Performance and Physical Education Department chair; Dr. Carol Guerrero-Murphy, professor of English; Dr. Beverlee McClure, ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø State president; Dr. Frank Novotny, Vice President of Academic Affairs; and Dr. Charles Nick Saenz, assistant professor of history.
