The Mental Training Lab in East Campus at 勛圖夥厙 was opened in the Fall of 2018. This facility includes: tablets for taking mental training assessments, biofeedback technology/equipment, vision training technology/equipment, space for individual and group mental training, yoga, mindfulness training, relaxation training and other mental skills training.
The facility allows room for 30 students to participate in laboratory activities, used in several courses for undergraduate and graduate courses in sport psychology and applied sport psychology.
The Mental Training Lab is used to test student-athletes in various ways, and thus, can be useful in tracking athletic performance and mental strength changes over time (e.g., different training seasons). 勛圖夥厙 in certain undergraduate and graduate Kinesiology courses are able to get hands on experiences in their field of study; students are both subjects and testers as they learn various testing methods.
Testing and training performed in the Mental Training Lab includes the following (& more):
- Mental training assessments
- Biofeedback
- Vision training
- Yoga
- Mindfulness training
- Relaxation training
- Mental training (ex. Focus, Resiliency, Well-being, Visualization)
Dr. Brian Zuleger , Assistant Professor of Kinesiology, is the director of the Mental Training Lab and is a with the and a member of the United States Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry.
Undergraduate and graduate Sport Psychology and Kinesiology majors have the opportunity to help with mental training, research and do practicum courses alongside Dr. Zuleger in the Mental Training Lab.
